Not that I didn't need to fix/stabilize a horizontal crack, but hearing it made it seem like far less of an urgent catastrophe. The floor is sorta cool, but it's in rough shape in a few places. Since I'm out of money anyway for the time being, I plan on mopping/polishing and then I'll see how it looks. I totally get the anxiety and fear of the unknown when it comes to old houses and big expenses. Glad you got it all fixed and that's behind you. On a brighter note, that floor looks kinda retro-cool in the photos--is it really?Jaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03564514698418229865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419950376125528057.post-63872760549420954202016-06-24T17:21:25.714-05:002016-06-24T17:21:25.714-05:00I think with most homes, it's inevitable you&#...I think with most homes, it's inevitable you're going to run into some expensive maintenance or repair at some point. But man. I wish it hadn't been quite so....dramatic. I talk about being in a relationship with this house, but right now I feel like I was wooed by someone with major charm, when underneath lay some major cray-cray. ;)Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09678523115908249689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419950376125528057.post-69660695555834991482016-06-24T17:19:17.991-05:002016-06-24T17:19:17.991-05:00A cheer squad right when I needed it. There's nothing currently wrong, but the possibility has me spooked. Guess I'm not a deer in the headlights. I'm generally a flight person in the face of "fight or flight" questions. This is not always a good quality. That crack would have freaked me all the way out, too. And it would have taken me just as long (if not longer) to deal with it. Good for you for dealing with it! I know this situation is a metaphor for many others.
