The Doorstep Plus

The doorstep plus everything else is a home built 1939 (or 1940, depending on which record you consult) in a cute little teacup neighborhood of cute little teacup houses. She is shady with trees, high on charm, long on history, and in need of some love and attention. I want to tug on my readers' sleeves and say just what I say to in-person visitors--“Wait ‘til I show you!” I love her already, because of her cool built-ins, her cozy upstairs “nook-y” bedrooms and the fact that she is already whispering little stories to me about her past lives. I also know what I’m in for: a stinky basement, bats in the attic, and an overgrown garden. How much rhubarb does one household need, really?
