I have never had the stamina to figure out how to shoe-horn all the details of a project into a short period of time, in and around the comings and goings of my family. It's exhausting to contemplate. I'm lucky to have a partner with a bit more zest for the process, but even he would rather take breaks for more important things, like kayaking and biking. But my capacity for planning for progress is endless. I picture the kitchen (re)painted before Thanksgiving (if we're even hosting one, which is a whole other ball of wax.) I can dream, can't I?Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09678523115908249689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419950376125528057.post-27296252593122617542020-08-31T23:59:40.075-05:002020-08-31T23:59:40.075-05:00So...hi, I'm catching up with you tonight :-) ...So...hi, I'm catching up with you tonight :-)

So much I can relate to in this post. Two years ago I had a door put in one of the rooms of my new house (there had been no door to the backyard) thinking I would paint the trim right away and...still not done. Maybe next summer. Because now that I'm back at work, all projects are done for another 9 months. That's just how it is, and I accept it. Also, completely agree with you about the value of having someone else install windows and doors. Money well-spent. Someone else installed that door. (No, I did not trust Cane to cut a hole in my house.) It was done in a day. No strain on anything.

I appreciate seeing that someone else renovates at the same speed, in the same way. Sometimes I get frustrated with how it is around here. Things that other bloggers make look easy (don't talk to me about how Young House Love thinks painting kitchen cabinets is a quick project one does to be able to live with a kitchen before the real renovation!) are a major project for me. I still haven't put the last coat of paint on my laundry room trim (project started in July), and it took more than 3 weeks to finish my home office project, which was really just painting and making a little built-in cabinet during a time both of us are not working. I think it's because we're actually living our lives, not chasing page views. While I love a dramatic transformation/reveal as much as anyone, I'd rather have a sane and balanced life.
